WAYS TO STAY PRODUCTIVE WHEN YOU LITERALLY HAVE NO ENERGY

Have you ever been so drained that it frustrated you? You had no control over your body, and you had no idea what to do? Feeling helpless is not fun. To be crippled by your body is one of the worst feelings in the world, and I completely understand how frustrating it can be. Naturally, as someone who is constantly on her feet and understanding the value of every minute, I love making the most of each day. Suffering from chronic fatigue and severe headaches, there are days when my body robs me of productivity.

When I first experienced the feeling of having no control of my body, I began to feel angry and helpless. After accepting this reality, I realized that there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking it easy once in a while. Sometimes in life, we can’t control how we physically feel; although this reality is very frustrating, there are still activities, that can be done at that moment to take back control.

These are four ways you can satisfy your inner perfectionist when you literally have no energy:

MEDITATE

Meditation is the perfect way to boost your mood when you’re feeling down. Meditation can help get rid of negative thoughts. It can also help reduce anxiety. There are so many ways to begin meditating. Personally, for me, I meditate by silencing my mind, however long it takes. Once I’ve achieved the peace of emptying my mind, I either practice visualization or begin to meditate on my favorite scripture or phrase I’m into at the moment.

READ A BOOK

The best way to pass time is with a really great book. Sometimes being occupied with other important tasks can push reading a book to the very bottom of a to-do list. When you have no control physically, sometimes the best way to kill time and be productive is through a good book. Maybe you don’t have the energy to read, no worries! You could also listen to a good book. For me, audible is the best!

TAKE A NAP

When was the last time you took a nap? Like midday, no worries rest? If it was just yesterday, that’s great! For some people, who are high-strung like me, even Saturday and Sunday naps are hard to come by. My mind starts to race of all the other things I could be doing besides napping. Well, when you’re involuntarily out of commission, try taking a nap. Not much you can do anyway.

WATCH SOMETHING

If I am being completely honest, some days are better than others. You might not have the energy to do a single thing and to be honest, that is entirely okay! You could distract yourself from how you're feeling. There are so many streaming platforms today, and let’s not forget that cable is still a thing. Watch something. Distract yourself. How you are feeling right now is only temporary.

Listen, we work very hard. Sometimes our body catches up to us and tells us it’s time to slow down. It may not also be something we want to hear, but it might be useful to listen. Remember, although how you are feeling currently is crippling, it’s not forever.
