A Few of My Favorite Things: London, England Edition
I had a great time exploring London for my birthday in November 2021. There are plenty of fun activities to do in the city, and I'd love to share some of my favorites.
The English Tea Bus Tour
Upon arriving in London, I highly recommend taking an English Tea Bus tour. Not only will you get to enjoy champagne, scones, and sandwiches, but the bus will take you all around the city while a knowledgeable tour guide shares information about the historic landmarks and districts you should visit. There are quite a few tea bus tours to choose from— here is the specific tour I used.
Buckingham Palace
If you have an interest in the Royal family, Buckingham Palace is a must-visit. There are tours available to explore the palace, although I have only been to witness the changing of the guard. It's fascinating to see the detailed architecture and the abundant use of gold in the construction of the palace.
Up at the O2
Did you know that The O2 is the busiest music venue in the world? It has hosted many famous stars, from Beyonce to Elton John. But did you also know that you can climb to the top of the stadium and enjoy a full 360-degree view of the city? It's a fun experience, made even better by the guide who educates you about this remarkable city.
Coppa Club Igloos
There are numerous Coppa Club locations scattered throughout England, offering hotels, event spaces, and restaurants. One of their most popular attractions is their Igloos, which you can rent for brunch or dinner. During my visit to the Tower Bridge location, I indulged in their healthy menu, enjoying tea and whole wheat pancakes. The igloo was beautifully decorated, as you can see. I was thoroughly impressed and would definitely return to Club Coppa.
Curise on the Thames River
One great way to experience London is by taking a cruise on the Thames River. There are many different options available, but I personally chose the London Eye Cruise. Despite the chilly weather in mid-November, I couldn't resist the opportunity to be out on the water. Not only does a river cruise offer a unique perspective of the city, but you also have a knowledgeable tour guide to teach you about London's history. You'll learn about the various bridges and changes made to the city after the Great Fire. It's an incredible way to gain a new understanding of London's rich history and culture. I highly recommend it.
Sky Garden
I saved the best for last - the Sky Garden. This stunning greenhouse is situated in the Fenchurch Building. Visiting the garden is free of charge. The Fenchurch Building also offers a variety of restaurants to choose from. For my birthday, I decided to dine at the Darwin Brasserie located on the 36th floor. The atmosphere was sophisticated and the food was impeccable. However, the highlight of the experience was definitely the gardens. Words cannot do justice to the beauty of the garden and pictures cannot capture its essence. You must experience it for yourself.
